
Established makers with a proven track record, including duos and collectives, can apply for the grant for Makers Initiatives. It enables them to develop and realise a project or programme addressing a common concern in collaboration with other makers or communities. The guidelines are set out below.
There is one application round per year. We can support 4 to 6 proposals.
Do you live outside the Randstad, or do you have a plan that takes place there? If so, we particularly encourage you to apply.
Basics
- You are active as a visual artist, designer, and/or craft practitioner (overlap is possible).
- You live and work in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, including its Caribbean parts, or Suriname (for at least one year).
- You are at least 21 years old.
- In 2020 or earlier:
- you completed your first subject-specific programme (vocational or higher education), or:
- you have completed a subject-specific higher professional bachelor’s programme following a vocational (MBO) programme, or:
- you started without formal training (your first presentation marks the start of your practice)
- You are not enrolled in a study or post-academic programme and (to the best of your knowledge) will not be during your plan.
- You apply together with an artistic or creative partner, ranging from professional makers to communities.
- You may also apply on behalf of a duo or collective. In that case, you must have an external artistic or creative partner too.
How often?
- You can only submit one application per year across all grants of Stichting Stokroos.
- You have not received a rejection for a Seed Grant in the previous calendar year.
Plan
- Your plan concerns the development and realisation of a multivocal artistic project or programme centred on a common concern.
- Plans can take place anywhere.
- Your plan starts in the next calendar year and has a maximum duration of two years.
How much?
- You can choose from a fixed contribution (depending on your needs) of:
- € 25,000
- € 40,000
Procedure
- Applications can only be submitted via the application form, in Dutch or English.
- In the form, we ask for:
- a portfolio in PDF (maximum 20 pages per person)
- videos or films, if applicable (total duration: maximum of 10 minutes)
- information about your education and activities, and a CV in PDF (maximum 2 pages per person)
- a budget in PDF (maximum 3 pages, excluding attached quotations)
- descriptions of your work, plan, and collaboration (maximum 2,500 characters per section, including spaces)
- brief descriptions of your schedule and the expected visibility of your plan, including the acknowledgement of Stichting Stokroos in this context (maximum 1,000 characters per section, including spaces)
- your personal data
- Per application period, we consider a maximum of 40 eligible applications.
- We aim to respond to your application within 10 weeks.
Budget
- For your application, add a budget in which you specify the expected expenses and income, and explain how you arrived at these amounts.
- If you are liable for VAT, the budget should be drawn up excluding VAT.
- The maximum fee for participants is € 2,200 per month (based on a 40-hour working week). Calculate fees based on the expected number of hours that individuals are involved.
- For occasional participation (such as a consultation, meeting, or workshop), use the following guideline rates: € 100 for one hour and € 250 per half day.
- For hiring third parties, such as technicians, a market-rate hourly fee applies, with a maximum of € 85 per hour excluding VAT. For costs exceeding € 500, include a quotation stating the hourly rate.
- Travel costs may be included on the basis of second-class public transport tickets, € 0.25 per kilometre, or economy-class flights.
- Regular ongoing costs, such as (studio) rent or internet and telephone expenses, may not be included.
- No unforseen costs can be added.
- Co-funding is not required.
Terms
- If you apply, you consent to the processing of your personal data. Read more in our privacy statement.
- If your plan is awarded:
- the grant will be paid in instalments, with the final instalment released upon receipt of a brief final report and a selection of images for communication purposes
- you mention Stichting Stokroos in your CV, in all communication related to your plan, and any resulting presentations, such as exhibitions
- you give us permission to publish your award, including one or more images from your portfolio
- we may reclaim the grant if you deviate significantly from your plan or these guidelines
- If your plan is rejected, we provide a brief motivation, but it is not possible to appeal.
- Stichting Stokroos may amend these guidelines if circumstances require.
