Tyna Adebowale — ORAKKLE | Intergenerational Ceramics & Community Knowledge

Maker Initiatives 2025

Tyna Adebowale is a visual artist from Nigeria who studied painting in her home country and relocated to the Netherlands after participating in the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (2017–2018). She is internationally successful as a painter and has exhibited her work, among other venues, at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington. In addition, she has long been developing her artist initiative ORAKKLE in her hometown of Igarra. Located near the central marketplace, this initiative serves as a meeting place and workspace for artists. With support from Stichting Stokroos, Tyna aims to establish an intergenerational workshop programme for women centred on ceramics, through which she aspires to contribute to the position of women in the region.
