Guidelines Seed Grant

Individual makers, duos, and collectives can apply for the Seed Grant, providing them with time and space to focus on their artistic development. Below you will find the guidelines.

In 2026, there are two application rounds. Each year, we can support around 50 applications.

Do you live outside the Randstad, or do you have a plan that takes place there? If so, we particularly encourage you to apply.


Basics


  • You are active as a visual artist, designer, and/or craft practitioner (overlap is possible).

  • You live and work in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, including its Caribbean parts, or Suriname (for at least one year).

  • You are at least 21 years old.

  • Between 2018 and 2022:

    • you completed your first subject-specific programme (vocational or higher education), or:
    • you have completed a subject-specific higher professional bachelor’s programme following a vocational (MBO) programme, or:
    • you started without formal training (your first presentation marks the start of your practice)

  • You are not enrolled in a study or post-academic programme and (to the best of your knowledge) will not be during your plan.

  • Are you applying on behalf of a (permanent or temporary) duo or collective? If so, all participants must comply with the guidelines.


How often?


  • You can submit an application for the Seed Grant once every 2 calendar years.

  • You can receive the Seed Grant up to 2 times.

  • You can only submit one application per year across all grants of Stichting Stokroos.


Plan


  • In your application, you describe (in broad terms) the development in your work that you have in mind.

  • Plans can take place anywhere.

  • Your plan starts at least 10 weeks after submitting your application and has a maximum duration of one year.


How much?


  • You can choose a fixed grant (no budget required):

    • individual: € 5,000
    • duo: € 7,500
    • collective: € 10,000


Procedure


  • Applications can only be submitted via the application form, in Dutch or English.

  • In the form, we ask for:

    • a portfolio in PDF (maximum 20 pages per person)
    • videos or films, if applicable (total duration: maximum of 10 minutes)
    • information about your education and activities, and/or a CV in PDF (maximum 2 pages per person)
    • descriptions of your work, plan, and collaboration, if applicable (maximum 2,500 characters per section, including spaces)
    • brief descriptions of your schedule, the use of the grant, and the expected visibility of your plan, including the acknowledgement of Stichting Stokroos in this context (maximum 1,000 characters per section, including spaces)
    • your personal data

  • Per application period, we consider a maximum of 60 eligible applications or close the grant once the available budget has been reached.

  • We aim to respond to your application within 8 weeks.


Terms


  • If you apply, you consent to the processing of your personal data. Read more in our privacy statement.

  • If your plan is awarded:

    • the grant will be paid in full upon approval
    • you mention Stichting Stokroos in your CV, in all communication related to your plan, and any resulting presentations, such as exhibitions
    • you give us permission to publish your award, including one or more images from your portfolio
    • you participate in a follow-up survey
    • we may reclaim the grant if you deviate significantly from your plan or these guidelines

  • If your plan is rejected, we provide a brief motivation, but it is not possible to appeal.

  • Stichting Stokroos may amend these guidelines if circumstances require.
